The bill proposes the designation of a segment of State Highway 64 in Smith County as the "Fire Marshal Jimmy W. Seaton Memorial Highway." This designation will apply to the portion of the highway that lies between its intersection with State Highway Loop 323 and the western Smith County line. The new legal language added to the Transportation Code specifies that this designation is in addition to any other existing designations for the highway.
Furthermore, the bill mandates the Texas Department of Transportation to design and construct markers that indicate the highway's new designation, as well as to erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate locations. The provisions added by this Act are intended to be renumbered to avoid any conflicts with existing designations. The Act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
