Throughout his decade-long career at NASA, he received numerous accolades, including the NASA Award of Merit and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
Following his tenure at NASA, Dr. Harris transitioned into entrepreneurship, serving as vice president of Spacehab, Inc., and later founding Versalius Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on healthcare technologies. He is also dedicated to inspiring minority students to pursue STEM careers through initiatives like the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' high regard for Dr. Harris and extends best wishes for his continued success, with an official copy of the resolution to be prepared for him.
