H.R. No. 424 is a resolution recognizing the achievements of students from the Jack Yates High School JY Cinema program, who will gather at the State Capitol on February 26, 2025, to celebrate their advancement to the finals of the 2025 University Interscholastic League Young Filmmakers Festival. This year marks a historic milestone for JY Cinema, as it is the first time that two of its films have reached the top six in two categories at the state finals. In honor of their accomplishments, the school will receive two state plaques, and each of the 70 participating students will earn a UIL state medal.

The films, which focus on issues related to student voices, include a narrative comedy titled "Switchin' Classes" and a documentary called "The Circle of the Storm - The Dustin Garrison Story." The resolution commends the hard work and dedication of these young filmmakers, highlighting the pride they have brought to their school and community. It concludes by extending best wishes for their future endeavors and calls for an official copy of the resolution to be prepared as a token of high regard from the Texas House of Representatives.
