H.B. No. 3510 designates a portion of State Highway 6 in Brazos County as the Sergeant Mark Butler Memorial Highway. This designation applies to the section of the highway between the southern municipal limits of College Station and the northern municipal limits of Navasota. The bill adds a new section, Section 225.249, to Subchapter B of Chapter 225 in the Transportation Code, which outlines the designation and states that it is in addition to any other existing designations.
Furthermore, the bill mandates the Texas Department of Transportation to design and construct markers that indicate the highway's designation and to erect these markers at both ends of the highway as well as at appropriate intermediate sites. The provisions of this act are set to take effect on September 1, 2025, and it is noted that the 89th Legislature intends for any provisions added by this act to be renumbered to avoid duplication.
