The resolution recognizes March 5, 2025, as Zoroastrian Day at the Texas State Capitol, honoring the Zoroastrian community in Texas. Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions founded over 3,000 years ago by the prophet Zarathushtra, has a rich history and has significantly influenced various Persian empires. Today, the global Zoroastrian population is estimated to be between 100,000 and 200,000, with a notable presence in North America, including over 25,000 followers, and more than 1,100 residing in Texas.
The resolution highlights the values of Zoroastrianism, such as truth, righteousness, and environmental stewardship, and acknowledges the contributions of Zoroastrians in Texas, particularly in the Greater Houston area and North Texas. It emphasizes the community's role in promoting interfaith dialogue and their diverse professional backgrounds, including small business ownership and community leadership. The House of Representatives extends a warm welcome to those gathering in Austin to celebrate this significant occasion.
