The university has a rich history, originating from the founding of Tillotson Collegiate and Normal Institute in 1875, and later merging with Samuel Huston College in 1952. It has evolved over the years, becoming a senior, coeducational institution and officially adopting its current name in 2005. Today, Huston-Tillotson University serves over 1,000 students and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
