Senate Resolution No. 139 honors Chaplain Betsy Buhler for her significant contributions to the community through her work as a chaplain at Community Bible Church in San Antonio. Originally from Lebanon, Tennessee, she felt called to ministry as a teenager and has since dedicated her life to serving others, including roles as a youth pastor and a coordinator for worship events at Lifeway. Since moving to San Antonio in 2001, she has led the church's media team and has been actively involved with the San Antonio Police Department, providing support during difficult times, as well as serving as a chaplain for the San Antonio Silver Stars WNBA team and CASA.
In 2013, Chaplain Buhler founded reFocus Today Ministry, a nonprofit that offers chaplaincy and counseling services across various sectors, including healthcare and first responder agencies. Her extensive service has earned her the title of "Chaplain to the City" and the affectionate nickname "Chappy B." The resolution expresses the Texas Senate's deep appreciation for her dedication and exemplary service in ministry, wishing her continued success in her future endeavors. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of high regard from the Senate.
