S.B. No. 1549 amends the Occupations Code to modify the meeting frequency requirements for county bail bond boards. Specifically, it changes Subsection (b) to require boards to meet at least once a month, while also adding a new Subsection (d) that stipulates boards in counties with populations under 1.3 million and containing a municipality with a population of 750,000 or more must meet at least six times a year during specified months (January, March, May, July, September, and November) at the call of the presiding officer.

Additionally, the bill amends Section 1704.162(h) to clarify that if a board tables a license holder's application for renewal or fails to act on it, the applicant's current license remains valid until the next board meeting. This provision applies only to renewal applications submitted after the bill's effective date, which is set for July 1, 2025, contingent upon receiving a two-thirds vote from both houses of the legislature. If the necessary vote is not achieved, the bill will take effect on September 1, 2025.
