S.B. No. 1549 amends the Occupations Code to modify the meeting frequency requirements for county bail bond boards. Specifically, it updates Section 1704.055 by deleting the previous reference to Subsection (c) and inserting new provisions in Subsection (d). Under the new language, boards in counties with populations under 1.3 million that contain a municipality with a population of 750,000 or more are required to meet at least six times a year during specified months (January, March, May, July, September, and November) and at other times as called by the presiding officer.

Additionally, the bill amends Section 1704.162(h) to clarify that if a board tables a license holder's application for renewal or fails to act on it, the applicant's current license remains valid until the next board meeting. This amendment applies only to renewal applications submitted after the effective date of the Act, which is set for July 1, 2025, contingent upon receiving a two-thirds vote from both houses of the legislature. If the necessary vote is not achieved, the Act will take effect on September 1, 2025.
