S.B. No. 1549 amends the Occupations Code to modify the meeting frequency requirements for county bail bond boards. Specifically, it updates Section 1704.055 by deleting the previous reference to Subsection (c) and inserting new provisions in Subsection (d). Under the new language, boards in counties with populations under 1.3 million that contain a municipality with a population of 750,000 or more are required to meet at least six times a year during specified months (January, March, May, July, September, and November) at the call of the presiding officer, in addition to other meetings as needed.

The bill also amends Section 1704.162(h) to clarify that if a board tables a license holder's application for renewal or fails to act on it, the applicant's current license remains valid until the next board meeting. This amendment applies only to renewal applications submitted after the effective date of the Act, with prior applications governed by the law in effect at that time. The Act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, contingent upon receiving a two-thirds vote from both houses of the legislature; otherwise, it will take effect on September 1, 2025.
