S.B. No. 1547 amends the Local Government Code to update the fees charged by county clerks for various property records. The bill specifies that county clerks will continue to charge $5.00 for the first page of personal and real property records, with additional pages costing $4.00 each. It introduces a new provision that allows clerks to charge for electronic copies of records, including real property records, in accordance with Sections 552.231 and 552.262 of the Government Code. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the fees for noncertified papers will apply to electronic copies of documents, except for real property records.

The bill also maintains existing fees for other services, such as marriage licenses and birth or death certificates, while ensuring that clerks provide copies of records in formats other than paper. The act will take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote from both houses; otherwise, it will take effect on September 1, 2025.
