The bill amends Section 1367.253(a) of the Insurance Code to expand health benefit plan coverage for hearing aids and cochlear implants. Specifically, it raises the age limit for coverage from 18 years to 25 years for individuals who require these medically necessary devices and related services.

The new provisions will take effect on September 1, 2025, and will apply to health benefit plans that are delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026. Plans that are delivered or renewed before this date will continue to be governed by the previous law.
