The bill amends the Government Code to modify the regulations surrounding compensatory time and vacation leave for employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Specifically, it stipulates that compensatory time off must be taken within a 24-month period following the end of the workweek in which it was accrued. If the compensatory time is not utilized within this timeframe, it will be credited to the employee's accumulated vacation leave instead of lapsing, as previously stated.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the accrual of vacation leave will be in accordance with the new provisions outlined in Section 659.015(k). The changes made by this Act will apply to all compensatory time accrued by employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, regardless of when it was accrued, and the Act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
