Senate Resolution No. 118 commemorates the 130th anniversary of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio, which will be celebrated on February 22, 2025. Founded by the Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence, OLLU began as Our Lady of the Lake Academy, an all-girls high school, in 1896. Over the years, it evolved into a college and eventually a university, becoming coeducational in 1969 and expanding its programs to serve a diverse student body. The institution has achieved significant milestones, including regional accreditation and the establishment of various academic programs, athletic initiatives, and a focus on adult education.

The resolution highlights OLLU's contributions to education and its impact on students and the community over the past century. Currently serving nearly 2,000 students with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, OLLU has also seen substantial fundraising and program development under the leadership of President Abel A. Chávez. The Texas Senate extends its best wishes to the university and its community, recognizing the institution's enduring legacy and commitment to academic excellence. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
