S.B. No. 1369 designates a portion of State Highway 11 in Morris County as the Army Staff Sergeant Samuel T. Castle Memorial Highway. The specific section of the highway to be designated runs between the eastern municipal limits of Daingerfield and the western municipal limits of Hughes Springs. This designation is intended to honor the memory of Army Staff Sergeant Samuel T. Castle and is in addition to any other existing designations for the highway.
The bill also mandates the Texas Department of Transportation to design and construct markers that indicate the highway's new designation, as well as to erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the route. The provisions added by this Act are intended to be renumbered to avoid any conflicts with existing designations. The Act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
