The resolution honors the United Way of the Concho Valley (UWCV) for over a century of dedicated service to the community, tracing its origins back to 1911 with the establishment of the San Angelo Circle of the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons. Over the years, the organization has evolved through various phases, including the formation of a community chest in 1925, the United War Chest during World War II, and its rebranding as the United Way of Tom Green County in 1974. In 1991, the organization expanded its reach and adopted its current name, focusing on addressing critical issues such as education, financial stability, and health across 14 counties in the Concho Valley.

Today, UWCV is committed to helping children achieve academic success, combating child abuse and domestic violence, providing mental health and substance abuse services, preventing homelessness, and enhancing outreach efforts. The organization has also formed strategic partnerships, including the incorporation of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library into its United We Read program, which promotes early literacy among youth. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' high regard for UWCV's impactful work and extends best wishes for its continued success. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of appreciation.
