The bill amends Section 132.002 of the Agriculture Code to establish new regulations regarding the sale of ungraded eggs by producers. It allows individuals who produce eggs from their own flock to sell up to 120 dozen ungraded eggs per week directly to consumers or at wholesale, provided they comply with specific labeling and licensing requirements. The new provisions require that cartons of ungraded eggs be labeled with the word "ungraded," the producer's name and address, the producer's license number (if sold at wholesale), and the packing date.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that producers selling ungraded eggs at wholesale must hold a license as an ungraded dealer-wholesaler and maintain records as well as adhere to sanitation requirements when handling these eggs. The act will take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote from both houses of the legislature, or on September 1, 2025, if such a vote is not achieved.
