The Texas House of Representatives is honoring former Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Gage for his distinguished service during his 12 years in office from January 1, 2005, until his retirement in 2017. Under his leadership, Sheriff Gage implemented significant initiatives, including the establishment of a solo motorcycle traffic division, a full-time SWAT team, and a cold case homicide unit. He also played a crucial role in creating the county's first regional communication system and enhancing the county jail facilities. Gage's extensive law enforcement career began in 1970 with the Houston Police Department, and he held various positions within the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office before becoming sheriff.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Sheriff Gage is a U.S. Navy veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. He is supported by his wife, Ollie Nell, and takes pride in his family, which includes three children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' high regard for Gage's leadership and commitment to law enforcement, wishing him well in his future endeavors. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for him as a token of appreciation.
