S.B. No. 1265 aims to enhance the Texas Workforce Commission's (TWC) role in providing child-care resources for employers. The bill introduces a new section, 302.0064, to the Labor Code, which mandates the TWC to maintain a dedicated web page on its website. This page will offer comprehensive and up-to-date information to assist employers in helping their employees, who are parents, access child care. The information will cover various topics, including child-care assistance, best practices for supporting employee parents, available tax credits, dependent care savings accounts, free tools or templates, and relevant policies and benefits that employers may adopt.
Additionally, the new web page must clarify that the TWC does not provide legal advice and that employers are not obligated to implement any policies or benefits listed unless required by other laws. The TWC is required to have this information posted by February 1, 2026, and the act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
