The bill amends the Local Government Code to enhance the notice requirements for changes to municipal zoning regulations and boundaries. It specifies that notice of public hearings must be published at least 30 days prior to the hearing in an official newspaper, a designated newspaper for notices, or a newspaper with a significant circulation within the municipality. Additionally, the bill increases the distance for notifying property owners about proposed zoning changes from 200 feet to 1,500 feet, ensuring that more residents are informed about potential changes that may affect them.

Furthermore, the bill mandates that written notice of public hearings on zoning changes affecting residential or multifamily zoning must be sent to relevant school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, general hospitals within 1,500 feet of the proposed changes, as well as the local fire and police departments. The changes in law will apply only to notices given after the effective date of the Act, which is set for September 1, 2025.
