The resolution recognizes Sonny James Equine Ministries (SJEM) of Aledo, Texas, for its significant contributions to the lives of youth in North Texas. Founded in 2016 by Cherie Morton, SJEM aims to enhance the confidence, discipline, and Christian faith of young riders while developing their horsemanship skills. The organization, named after the Mortons' daughters, offers a variety of programs for middle and high school students of all riding abilities, including riding instruction, camps, and competitive teams in horsemanship, ranch horse, and rodeo. Additionally, the Fellowship Team focuses on faith-based activities and community service projects.
The Texas Senate expresses its appreciation for SJEM's commitment to fostering positive values and empowering youth to become engaged citizens and leaders. The resolution extends best wishes to Cherie and Johnny Morton, along with the members and staff of SJEM, for their continued success in making a positive impact on the community. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate.
