The resolution honors the memory of John Russell Baker, a cherished member of the Lago Vista community who passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on December 21, 1960, he was a dedicated father to his two sons, Austin and Alec, and had a successful career as a failure analyst at Motorola for over 35 years. After moving to Lago Vista in 2016, he opened a barbecue business with his son, which quickly became a local favorite and led to the establishment of a brick-and-mortar location in Jonestown in October 2024.

In addition to his entrepreneurial success, Mr. Baker was actively involved in his community, volunteering at various barbecue events, providing holiday meals for those in need, and supporting local athletic teams. He was recognized for his contributions with awards from the North Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce, including the 2019 Business of the Year Award and the 2022 Member of the Year Award. The resolution expresses heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends, acknowledging his warmth, generosity, and the lasting impact he had on those around him. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for his family, and the Texas House of Representatives will adjourn in his memory.
