This bill amends the Government Code to update the responsibilities of the district attorney for the 1st Judicial District and to establish the office of district attorney for the newly created 273rd Judicial District. Specifically, it modifies Section 43.101 to clarify that the district attorney for the 1st Judicial District represents the state in district courts within San Augustine County, while also adding a new Section 43.1742 that states the voters of Sabine County will elect a district attorney for the 273rd Judicial District, who will similarly represent the state in district courts in that county.

Additionally, the bill amends Section 46.002 to include the 273rd Judicial District among the list of districts whose district attorneys are subject to the relevant prosecutorial regulations. The creation of the 273rd Judicial District's office will take effect on January 1, 2029, and it will be operational for the primary and general elections in 2028.
