The resolution commemorates the 180th anniversary of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, which is recognized as the oldest continuously operating chamber of commerce in Texas, established in 1845. The chamber, led by President Gina M. Spagnola, has over 1,000 members representing a diverse array of sectors, including business, education, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations. Throughout its history, the chamber has been a driving force for economic development in the Galveston community, contributing to significant infrastructure projects, disaster recovery efforts, and cultural events such as Mardi Gras! Galveston.
To celebrate this milestone, the chamber will host the second annual Galveston Island Country Music Fest on January 25, 2025, featuring notable Texan artists like Drake Milligan and The Powell Brothers. The Texas House of Representatives expresses its recognition of the chamber's contributions and extends best wishes for its continued success. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of esteem from the Texas House.
