House Concurrent Resolution No. 44 honors the memory of Autry C. Stephens, who is set to be posthumously inducted into the Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 10, 2025. Autry Stephens, born in 1938 in Comanche County, Texas, earned degrees in petroleum engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and founded Endeavor Energy Resources, LP, which became one of the largest private oil and gas operators in the Permian Basin under his leadership. He was known for his innovative techniques in maximizing production and was also an active philanthropist.
The resolution expresses the Texas Legislature's high regard for Autry C. Stephens and his legacy, acknowledging his remarkable achievements and contributions to the oil and gas industry, as well as his philanthropic efforts. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for his family as a tribute to his life and accomplishments. The resolution was adopted by both the House and Senate in March 2025.
