The bill amends the Election Code to require the inclusion of the mailing address of campaign treasurers in various appointments and reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission. Specifically, it modifies Section 252.002(a) to mandate that a campaign treasurer appointment must include the treasurer's name, residence, mailing, or business street address, telephone number, and the name of the person making the appointment. Additionally, Sections 254.061, 254.121, and 254.151 are amended to require that reports by candidates and campaign treasurers of specific-purpose and general-purpose committees also include the mailing address of the campaign treasurer.
The changes in law will only apply to campaign treasurer appointments and reports filed on or after the effective date of the Act, with prior filings remaining subject to the law in effect at that time. The Act is set to take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote from both houses of the legislature, or on September 1, 2025, if such a vote is not achieved.
