The resolution, introduced by Senator Eckhardt, recognizes Pflugerville for its extensive and well-utilized trail network, which spans over 71 miles and is the most per capita in Texas. With 94.8% of residents living within half a mile of a trail and 70% using them regularly, the trails not only promote exercise and recreation but also enhance community engagement through cultural activities and events. The network is designed with safety in mind, featuring amenities such as parking, lighting, and restrooms, while also helping to alleviate traffic congestion by connecting neighborhoods, schools, and businesses.

As a result of these attributes, the resolution designates Pflugerville as the official Trail Capital of Texas, highlighting the city's commitment to improving the health and well-being of its residents. This designation will remain in effect for ten years from the date the resolution is passed by the legislature.
