The bill amends the definition of "facility" within the Health and Safety Code to clarify the types of entities that are subject to workplace violence prevention requirements. Specifically, it retains the definition of a "facility" to include home and community support services agencies, hospitals, nursing facilities, ambulatory surgical centers, freestanding emergency medical care facilities, and mental hospitals. Notably, the amendment removes the previous requirement that home and community support services agencies provide home health services and specifies that these agencies must employ at least two registered nurses to qualify as a facility.

Additionally, the bill establishes a compliance deadline for home and community support services agencies that become subject to the updated definition. These agencies must adhere to the requirements of Chapter 331 of the Health and Safety Code by September 1, 2026. The act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
