Under the amended law, when a parent who is a peace officer, prosecuting attorney, servicemember, or a judicial officer requests a transfer, the school district must accommodate the transfer to another campus or school district as per the parent's selection. However, the school district is not obligated to provide transportation for the student transferring under this provision. The bill is set to take effect for the 2025-2026 school year, with immediate effect possible if it receives the necessary legislative approval.
