House Concurrent Resolution No. 22 honors Dr. James Olson for his remarkable 50 years of service at The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB). A native of Southern California, Dr. Olson earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California Santa Barbara and later obtained his master's and doctorate in psychology from UCLA. He was one of the founding faculty members at UTPB in 1973 and has held various leadership roles, including chair of the psychology, sociology, and criminology departments, as well as the first dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Olson is recognized for his contributions to the field of psychology, including coauthoring books based on interviews with residential burglars, and has received several prestigious teaching awards.

The resolution commends Dr. Olson for his dedication and expertise, which have positively impacted countless students and earned him significant recognition in academia.
