H.R. No. 20 is a resolution commemorating the 150th anniversary of Ebenezer Third Baptist Church in Austin, which was founded on February 16, 1875. The church, originally known as Third Baptist Church, was established by Reverend C. Ward and 18 charter members, initially meeting in a private home before moving to its current location in 1885. Over the years, the church has expanded its facilities and has a rich musical heritage, highlighted by the Bright and Early Choir, which became the first African American choir to perform on commercial radio in Texas in 1938. The church was recognized with a Texas Historical Marker in 1976, reflecting its significance in the community.

The resolution acknowledges the vital role Ebenezer Third Baptist Church has played in providing spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach to its members, under the leadership of dedicated pastors, including Reverend Dr. Marvin C. Griffin and the current pastor, Reverend Dr. Ricky Freeman. The Texas House of Representatives expresses its best wishes for the future of the congregation and honors the commitment of its members and clergy throughout its history. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for the church as a token of high regard from the Texas House.
