The bill amends the Occupations Code by adding Section 154.007, which mandates that the Texas Medical Board must comply with public information requests made under Section 552.008 of the Government Code. The board is allowed to redact certain information, including patient information protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) unless the patient has authorized its disclosure, as well as personally identifiable information, except for the individual's name. Additionally, the board is required to include a written notice with each fulfilled request, informing recipients that improper use or distribution of confidential information is an offense under Section 552.352 of the Government Code.

Furthermore, the bill repeals Section 154.055 of the Occupations Code. The act is set to take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote from all elected members of both houses; otherwise, it will take effect on September 1, 2025.
