The bill, H.B. No. 757, amends Section 32.024(l-1) of the Human Resources Code to extend the period of medical assistance for women who are eligible for Medicaid during pregnancy. Specifically, it mandates that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission provide medical assistance for a minimum of 24 months following the last month of a woman's pregnancy. This change replaces the previous provisions that allowed for assistance for only six or twelve months after the end of the pregnancy.

Additionally, the bill includes a provision that allows state agencies to delay the implementation of any part of the Act if they determine that a waiver or authorization from a federal agency is necessary. The Act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
