H.R. No. 115
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, The football team from Liberty Christian School in
Argyle closed out an unforgettable season by capturing the 2023
Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Division II
state championship; and
       WHEREAS, The Warriors began their journey to the title by
going undefeated in the regular season and claiming the district
title; delivering a series of dominant performances in the
playoffs, they bested Bishop Dunne Catholic School, Grace Community
School, and All Saints' Episcopal School to advance to the title
game; and
       WHEREAS, On December 1, Liberty Christian took the field at
Waco ISD Stadium against Regents School of Austin in the
Division II finale; showcasing a balanced attack, the Warriors took
control from the outset, going up 31-3 at intermission and
extending their advantage in the second half; triumphing by the
final score of 52-10, the Liberty Christian players hoisted the
championship trophy for the first time in 16 years, closing out the
season with an unblemished record of 14 wins and zero losses; and
       WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Liberty Christian players
was the result of an exceptional team effort, with valuable
contributions being made by each member of the roster; over the
course of the championship season, the Warriors were guided by
third-year head coach Jason Witten, who has drawn on the gridiron
expertise he gained during his playing career with the Dallas
Cowboys to teach and motivate the Liberty Christian athletes; and
       WHEREAS, Through countless hours of hard work and an
unwavering commitment to excellence, the Liberty Christian
Warriors realized their season-long goal of becoming state
champions, and their accomplishments are a source of great pride to
their school and to their many supporters in the community; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Liberty
Christian School football team on winning the 2023 TAPPS
Division II state championship and extend to the team's players,
coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Warriors as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
