H.R. No. 104
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, The Arlington Fire Department is celebrating the
grand opening of Fire Station 1 on December 8, 2023; and
       WHEREAS, The two-story, nearly 18,000-square-foot building
is replacing the property that had previously served as Fire
Station 1 since 1954; Arlington voters approved plans to rebuild
the city's oldest fire station as part of the 2014 bond program, and
the City of Arlington broke ground on the project on March 9, 2022;
and
       WHEREAS, Designed to provide a better work and living space
for Arlington firefighters, the new facility features five larger,
drive-through apparatus bays, a full kitchen and dining room, and
various offices; the improved living quarters for the station's
three shift crews, who each spend 24 hours working from the downtown
station, will include 12 private dormitory rooms and separate men's
and women's restrooms with showers; the building's design
incorporates several energy-saving features and technologies, as
well as native landscaping with minimal irrigation requirements;
and
       WHEREAS, The members of the Arlington Fire Department have
demonstrated an exceptional commitment to protecting the lives and
property of their fellow citizens, and this spacious new facility
ensures that the department will be even better equipped to serve
the community in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Arlington
Fire Department on the grand opening of Fire Station 1 and commend
all those who supported and oversaw the completion of this project
for their contributions; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of the Arlington Fire Department as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
