SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Elizabeth Noel Harwerth on her appointment to the
	Order of the British Empire by King Charles III of the United
	Kingdom; and
	WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is bestowed biannually by
	the monarch of the United Kingdom upon eminent individuals who
	have distinguished themselves through their exceptional service
	and contributions to society; Noel Harwerth has been recognized
	with this honor for her outstanding accomplishments and her
	dedicated service in the field of international trade; and
	WHEREAS, A Laredo native, Noel Harwerth serves as chair of
	the UK Export Finance agency and is a member of the board of the
	UK Department of Business and Trade; she earned her undergraduate
	and juris doctor degrees from The University of Texas at Austin,
	and she has made many notable achievements over the course of her
	career in banking and trade; and
	WHEREAS, Previously, Mrs. Harwerth served as chief
	operating officer of Citibank International PLC in London; she
	was appointed partnership director of the London Underground
	by the Government of the United Kingdom and was appointed to
	the board of the Tote and served as audit chair; and
	WHEREAS, Highly respected for her leadership and
	expertise in administration and finance, Mrs. Harwerth
	currently serves on the boards of One Savings Bank and Scotia
	Bank Europe, and she has previously held roles on the boards of
	such influential banks and corporations as Standard Life,
	London Metals Exchange, and Bank of England; she is also a
	liveryman of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers,
	chair of the UK chapter of Woman Corporate Directors, and a
	member of the International Women's Forum; and
	WHEREAS, International trade plays a key role in creating a
	more peaceful global society, and through her diligence and
	strong leadership, Mrs. Harwerth has made significant
	contributions to the United Kingdom; she credits her upbringing
	and education in Laredo as the bedrock of her decades-long
	success in international business, and she and her fellow Texans
	may take pride in her many achievements and in the special
	recognition bestowed upon her with this exceptional honor; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
	Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Elizabeth Noel
	Harwerth on her appointment to the Order of the British Empire
	and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in
	all of her endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
