R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Tomball Christian Warriors football team |
|
|
continued its tradition of excellence by winning the 2023 National |
|
|
Homeschool Football Association Division 1 championship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2009, the Tomball Christian Warriors |
|
|
is a support organization focused on enabling homeschool students |
|
|
to compete in athletics; the TCW football team has enjoyed notable |
|
|
success, winning multiple championships in the Texas Christian |
|
|
Athletic League and finishing as runner-up for the NHFA national |
|
|
title in 2020 and 2021; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joining the nation's other top teams in Panama City, |
|
|
Florida, for the 2023 NHFA National Tournament, the Warriors |
|
|
advanced to the semifinals, where they bested the defending |
|
|
champion Tulsa NOAH Jaguars 23-9 and punched their ticket to the |
|
|
tournament finale; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On November 18, the Warriors took the field at Tommy |
|
|
Oliver Memorial Stadium to battle the Christ Prep Academy Patriots |
|
|
for the crown; the Tomball athletes excelled on both sides of the |
|
|
line of scrimmage and clinched their first national title by the |
|
|
final score of 17-0; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Warriors were paced by running back and |
|
|
linebacker Caleb Harmon, the tournament Most Valuable Player, and |
|
|
he was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Cameron Frank, Drew |
|
|
Harrison, Jack Alderson, Josiah Nellis, Thomas Frye, and Ty |
|
|
Rosenbush; throughout the season, the team received vital |
|
|
contributions from each member of the roster, and these dedicated |
|
|
student-athletes benefited from the guidance of first-year head |
|
|
coach Skeet Alderson and the support of TCW president Paul |
|
|
Resurreccion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through countless hours of hard work and an |
|
|
unwavering commitment to excellence, the Tomball Christian |
|
|
Warriors realized their season-long goal of becoming national |
|
|
champions, and their accomplishments are a source of great pride to |
|
|
their many supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Tomball |
|
|
Christian Warriors on winning the 2023 National Homeschool Football |
|
|
Association Division 1 championship and extend to the players, |
|
|
coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
