               R E S O L U T I O N
            
                   WHEREAS, South Texas Independent School District Virtual 
         
            Academy has been named an Apple Distinguished School for the 
         
            2023-2026 program term; and
         
                   WHEREAS, Recipients of this notable designation are chosen 
         
            for demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous innovation and 
         
            for their use of technology in fostering a supportive and 
         
            challenging educational environment; Apple Distinguished Schools 
         
            receive support through leadership events, collaboration with 
         
            other participating schools, and opportunities to engage with 
         
            experts; and
         
                   WHEREAS, The only all-magnet district in the state, South 
         
            Texas ISD offers college preparation and hands-on career training 
         
            to middle and high school students in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy 
         
            Counties; the district opened its Virtual Academy in 2021 to better 
         
            meet the needs of residents in the Rio Grande Valley; led by 
         
            principal Maribel Valdez, the school offers fully remote courses 
         
            with curriculum and instruction designed specifically for virtual 
         
            learning; and
         
                   WHEREAS, A quality education is critical to the continuing 
         
            vitality of our state, and the teachers and staff of South Texas ISD 
         
            Virtual Academy are helping their students to reach their full 
         
            potential and to become engaged and productive members of their 
         
            community; now, therefore, be it
         
                   RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas 
         
            Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate South Texas 
         
            Independent School District Virtual Academy on its selection as an 
         
            Apple Distinguished School and extend to all those associated with 
         
            the school sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 
         
            further
         
                   RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
         
            prepared for South Texas ISD Virtual Academy as an expression of 
         
            high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
