R E S O L U T I O N
               WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan and World
  War II veteran is truly cause for celebration, and Gumercindo
  Zambrano of La Grulla marked that special milestone on
  September  27, 2023; and
               WHEREAS, "Gume" Zambrano was born in 1923; he grew up in
  La  Grulla, where he attended school, and through the decades he has
  given back to his community by helping care for the La Grulla
  Cemetery; and
               WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr.  Zambrano
  proudly served as a U.S. Army radio operator during World War  II; he
  was stationed in the South Pacific during the battles at
  Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and New Guinea, and he returned home to
  La Grulla in 1946; and
               WHEREAS, Mr.  Zambrano exchanged wedding vows with the former
  Dora Solis, and they became the devoted parents of two sons and four
  daughters; with the passage of time, he has experienced the joy of
  welcoming grandchildren and great-grandchildren into his treasured
  family; and
               WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, Gume Zambrano has not
  only bravely served his nation but has also met the challenges and
  opportunities of a long life with grace and fortitude, and he is
  blessed with the deep respect and lasting affection of a host of
  loved ones; now, therefore, be it
               RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Gumercindo
  Zambrano on the joyous occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
               RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr.  Zambrano as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
