R E S O L U T I O N
|
 
|
             WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
 
|
a close with the passing of the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca of San |
 
|
Antonio on October 18, 2023, at the age of 91; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, The son of Celso and Nemesia Fonseca, Guadalupe |
 
|
Fonseca was born in El Paso on July 10, 1932; he answered the call to |
 
|
the ministry and became the pastor of Iglesia Sur Zarzamora Baptist |
 
|
Church; over the course of 45 years, he led the congregation in |
 
|
worship and provided spiritual guidance and consolation, and he |
 
|
distributed tracts weekly to offer hope to those in need; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Reverend Fonseca shared 74 years of marriage with |
 
|
his wife, Isabel Fonseca; he took great pride in his children, |
 
|
Thomas, Edward, Freddie, Dolores, Susan, and Monica, and through |
 
|
the years, his treasured family grew to include 16 grandchildren |
 
|
and 15 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his son, |
 
|
Thomas, granddaughter Monnette Vierya, and son-in-law Rudy |
 
|
Martinez; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his faith and his family, |
 
|
Guadalupe Fonseca earned the lasting respect and admiration of all |
 
|
who were privileged to know him, and they will forever cherish their |
 
|
memories of his warmth, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor; |
 
|
now, therefore, be it |
 
|
             RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
 
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
 
|
the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca and extend sincere condolences to |
 
|
the members of his family: to his wife, Isabel Fonseca; to his |
 
|
children, Edward Fonseca and his wife, Frenchy, Freddie Fonseca and |
 
|
his wife, Rosie, Dolores Martinez, Susan Martinez and her husband, |
 
|
Tommy, and Monica Garcia and her husband, Albert; to his |
 
|
daughter-in-law, Irma Fonseca; to his grandchildren and |
 
|
great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends; |
 
|
and, be it further |
 
|
             RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
 
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
 
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Guadalupe |
 
|
Fonseca. |
