H.R. No. 101
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
passing of Margaret Bryan of Corpus Christi on September 25, 2023,
at the age of 82; and
       WHEREAS, The daughter of Anita and Juan Montez, the former
"Peggy" Montez was born in Corpus Christi on August 19, 1941, and
she grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Gloria and Juan;
and
       WHEREAS, She married Richard A. Bryan, with whom she shared a
fulfilling union that spanned more than five decades until his
passing in 2012; Mrs. Bryan was the devoted mother of five sons,
David, Michael, John, Christopher, and the late Richard A. Bryan
Jr., and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of watching
her family grow to include six grandsons, Matthew, Patrick, Gus,
Willie, Jonah, and Christian, as well as two great-grandchildren;
and
       WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Bryan worked for the
Diocese of Corpus Christi for a number of years, supporting the
bishop and the office of the chancery; she was an active congregant
of Christ the King Parish and served as a Eucharist minister, CCD
educator, and baptismal instructor; moreover, she was a member of
the parish council, mothers group, Catholic Daughters of the
Americas, altar society, and school board, and she held numerous
leadership roles within the Schoenstatt Movement, including
diocesan leader; she further benefited her fellow citizens through
her volunteer efforts with such worthy causes and organizations as
Loaves & Fishes; and
       WHEREAS, In her earlier years, Mrs. Bryan enjoyed spontaneous
trips out of town and a variety of outdoor activities, such as
camping, fishing, and crabbing; she loved music, animals, and
sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and she was an excellent
cook, often using her skills to prepare favorite recipes for family
barbecues and other gatherings; and
       WHEREAS, Although Peggy Bryan is greatly missed, she has left
her loved ones with many cherished memories, and she will forever
hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
of Margaret Bryan and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn
her passing; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Peggy
Bryan.
