SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53
 
 
In Memory
of
Gerard Evenwel
 
       WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Gerard Johan Evenwel
Jr. of Mount Pleasant were deeply saddened by his passing on
September 4, 2021, at the age of 76; and
       WHEREAS, The son of Gerard Johan Evenwel Sr. and Sara
Leaman Evenwel, Gerry Evenwel was born on February 23, 1945, in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania; he received most of his formal
schooling at the International School of Brussels and went on to
graduate from Institut Montana, a mountaintop boarding school
outside Zug, Switzerland, becoming fluent in several languages;
he then returned to Lancaster to attend Franklin & Marshall
College and graduated in 1967; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Evenwel enjoyed a rewarding career in human
resources, working for Montgomery Ward, Caterpillar, and
Pilgrim's Pride; he immersed himself in civic life by joining
several community organizations and by attending local board and
council meetings, and he was a member of First Baptist Church of
Mount Pleasant; in his free time, he enjoyed playing bridge and
had recently joined the Three Oaks Canasta Club; and
       WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Evenwel benefited from
the love and support of his wife, Sue, with whom he shared a
rewarding 55-year marriage; he took great pride in his two
children, Gerard Evenwel III and the late Stephanie Ann Daujatas,
and over the years, he had the pleasure of welcoming six
grandchildren and one great-granddaughter into the family; and
       WHEREAS, Although Gerry Evenwel is deeply missed, those
who held him dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness
he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
of Gerard Johan Evenwel Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
members of his family: to his wife, Sue Evenwel; to his brother,
John Arie Evenwel, and his wife, Patricia; to his son, Gerard J.
Evenwel III, and his wife, Kay; to his grandsons, Gerard J.
Evenwel IV and his wife, Jordan, and Zachary, Nicholas, and John
Evenwel; to his granddaughters, Deanna and Danielle Daujatas; to
his great-granddaughter, Gwyneth Mae Evenwel; and to his other
relatives and many friends; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
this day, it do so in memory of Gerry Evenwel.
