R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, CommonCents Credit Union celebrated the
groundbreaking of its new building in Winnie on October 10, 2023;
and
WHEREAS, Originally known as Goodyear Federal Credit Union,
this financial institution was first chartered on August 20, 1963,
in an office at the Goodyear Beaumont Chemical Plant; the credit
union soon moved to an adjacent parcel of land donated by the plant,
and that location continues to serve as its main office; it became
community chartered in 2004, and it took on its current name,
CommonCents Credit Union, in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, the credit union has expanded its
reach, opening a branch in Winnie and a second location in Beaumont,
and it provides members with 24/7 access to their accounts through
online banking, an automated response teller, and a mobile banking
app; today, CommonCents Credit Union serves more than 3,000 members
and has over $32 million in assets; and
WHEREAS, The new facility will replace the existing Winnie
location, which has been housed in a modular building since it
opened in 2009; the updated space will allow the credit union to
better serve its customers in Chambers County; and
WHEREAS, For six decades, CommonCents Credit Union has
provided jobs and valuable services to the region, and it is indeed
deserving of recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the
groundbreaking of the new CommonCents Credit Union building in
Winnie and extend to all those associated with the credit union
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for CommonCents Credit Union as an expression of high
