R E S O L U T I O N
|
 
|
             WHEREAS, Dr.  Carl Dethloff is retiring as superintendent of |
 
|
the San Angelo Independent School District in December 2023, |
 
|
drawing a close an exemplary career in public education that has |
 
|
spanned nearly three and a half decades; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Dr.  Dethloff first took the helm of San Angelo ISD |
 
|
on July 1, 2015, after serving as the assistant superintendent of |
 
|
human resources and professional development for six years, and |
 
|
over the course of his tenure, he has worked tirelessly to provide |
 
|
valuable educational opportunities to area students; under his able |
 
|
leadership, the district has significantly expanded its dual credit |
 
|
and career and technical education program offerings; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Before coming to San Angelo ISD, Dr.  Dethloff served |
 
|
as the principal of three schools in College Station; long active in |
 
|
his professional community, he has given generously of his time and |
 
|
talents to numerous committees and organizations, including the |
 
|
Texas Association of School Administrators leadership development |
 
|
committee, the TASA Future-Ready Superintendents Leadership |
 
|
Network, the Texas School Alliance, and the Texas Public |
 
|
Accountability Consortium; he holds both a bachelor's and a |
 
|
master's degree from Austin College as well as a doctoral degree |
 
|
from Texas A&M University; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Dr.  Dethloff will take on |
 
|
a new role as the deputy executive director of the nonprofit |
 
|
education organization the Equity Center; in all his endeavors, he |
 
|
enjoys the love and support of his wife, Judy, and he takes great |
 
|
pride in their two daughters, Abbey and Caroline; and |
 
|
             WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
 
|
commitment to excellence, Carl Dethloff has helped foster a |
 
|
supportive and challenging educational environment for countless |
 
|
young Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many |
 
|
contributions as he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; |
 
|
now, therefore, be it |
 
|
             RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
 
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr.  Carl |
 
|
Dethloff on his retirement as superintendent of the San Angelo |
 
|
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
 
|
for the future; and, be it further |
 
|
             RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
 
|
prepared for Dr.  Dethloff as an expression of high regard by the |
 
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
