HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Anwar family was honored at the annual West |
|
|
Texan by Nature event hosted by the Sibley Nature Center in Midland |
|
|
on September 21, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Sibley Nature Center celebrates the natural |
|
|
history of West Texas at a 49-acre site in Hogan Park in Midland; |
|
|
the center presented the Anwar family with its West Texan by Nature |
|
|
award in recognition of the family's wide-ranging contributions to |
|
|
the community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Javaid Anwar immigrated |
|
|
to the United States after high school and earned a degree in |
|
|
petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming; he has spent |
|
|
nearly four decades in the oil and gas industry in Texas, and over |
|
|
the course of his career, he has founded several oil and gas |
|
|
exploration companies, started his own oil drilling business, and |
|
|
accumulated various oil leases in the Permian Basin; today, he |
|
|
serves as the owner and president of Midland Energy, Petroplex |
|
|
Energy, and the Western T. Corporation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Anwar has benefited from |
|
|
the love and encouragement of his wife, Vicky, and the couple's two |
|
|
children, Ryan and Leslie, have both grown up to work in the family |
|
|
business; through the years, the Anwars have given of their time and |
|
|
resources to support the oil and gas industry as well as the wider |
|
|
community, and they have donated generously to numerous public |
|
|
universities and charities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Anwar family have proven |
|
|
themselves to be business and civic leaders of great vision and |
|
|
ability, and they may indeed reflect with pride on this prestigious |
|
|
recognition of their years of dedicated service to the community; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|
|
3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Anwar family on |
|
|
receiving the West Texan by Nature award from the Sibley Nature |
|
|
Center and extend to the members of the family sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Anwar family as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
