CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
       WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Shayne Self Priefert of
Mount Pleasant were deeply saddened by her death on July 7, 2023, at
the age of 71; and
       WHEREAS, The daughter of Buck and Beatrice Johnson Self, the
former Shayne Self was born in Pittsburg, Texas, on January 19,
1952, and she grew up on her family's farm in Cookville with the
companionship of three siblings, Amber, Mandy, and Tift; she
attended Cookville School before transferring to Mount Pleasant
High School, where she graduated in 1970; and
       WHEREAS, She married Bill Priefert, and the couple shared a
fulfilling union that spanned more than five decades; Mrs. Priefert
took great pride in their three sons, Eddie, Nathan, and Travis, and
her cherished family eventually grew to include 11 grandchildren;
and
       WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Priefert devoted herself
to her home and family; she was also an active member of Emmanuel
Baptist Church in Cookville, where she taught a children's Sunday
school class for many years; and
       WHEREAS, Shayne Priefert lived a full and generous life
surrounded by those she loved, and they will forever carry her close
in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Shayne Self
Priefert and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her
family: to her husband, Bill Priefert; to her sons, Eddie Priefert
and his wife, Randa, Nathan Priefert and his wife, Bailey, and
Travis Priefert and his wife, Amanda; to her grandsons, Ethan,
Landon, Collin, Ayden, Bowdrie, Tucker, and Boone Priefert; to her
granddaughters, Montgomery, McCoy, McCall, and Preslee Priefert;
to her sisters, Amber Newman and Mandy Smith and her husband, Danny;
to her sister-in-law, Vicki Jeter; to her brother-in-law, David
Bynum; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
Shayne Priefert.
