H.R. No. 1363
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, Tyler Mathieson, a junior at Melissa High School,
was named the state champion in the Technical Computer Applications
Contest at the SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference,
which was held in Corpus Christi from March 30 to April 1, 2023; and
       WHEREAS, SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit education
association that provides training programs and opportunities to
students preparing for careers in trade, technical, and service
occupations; each year, thousands of students across the country
demonstrate their abilities at SkillsUSA competitions in the hopes
of advancing to the national finals; and
       WHEREAS, With his impressive showing at the Texas Leadership
and Skills Conference, Mr. Mathieson became the first student from
Melissa High School to take top honors at a SkillsUSA state
competition; he previously honed his abilities by completing
technology courses in the Melissa ISD Career and Technical
Education program, and he has earned first- and second-place
finishes at UIL state competitions; he will go on to represent the
state of Texas at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills
Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in June; and
       WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to excellence,
Tyler Mathieson has won great distinction for himself and his
school, and he may indeed take pride in this outstanding
achievement; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Tyler Mathieson on being named the
state champion in Technical Computer Applications at the 2023
SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors;
and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Mathieson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
