A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the confidentiality of certain information held by the |
|
|
Texas Education Agency. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 552.1178 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 552.1178. CONFIDENTIALITY OF CERTAIN INFORMATION |
|
|
MAINTAINED BY TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY. (a) In this section, |
|
|
"educator" has the meaning assigned by Section 5.001, Education |
|
|
Code. |
|
|
(b) Information maintained by the Texas Education Agency |
|
|
that relates to the home address, home telephone number, emergency |
|
|
contact information, date of birth, or social security number of an |
|
|
educator, or that reveals whether an educator has family members, |
|
|
is confidential and excepted from the requirements of Section |
|
|
552.021. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
