He began his coaching journey as an assistant under his father, leading the team to a state championship in 1992, and later became the head coach in 1999, achieving a commendable record of 73-43. After stepping down in 2004 to focus on his principal duties, he returned to coaching in 2009 and resumed the head coach position in 2021.
