Senate Joint Resolution 1056 honors Grady Eades for receiving the 2026 Hillcourt Bronze Medal, an award recognizing significant contributions to Scouting history at local and regional levels. Established by The "Green Bar Bill" Hillcourt Foundation in 2024, this prestigious medal pays tribute to the legacy of William "Green Bar Bill" Hillcourt, a pivotal figure in Scouting. Eades, a lifelong Scouter who achieved the Eagle Scout rank in 1990, has dedicated his efforts to preserving the history of Scouting, particularly through his work with VirtualBoxwell.org and his authorship of a book detailing a century of Scouting in Middle Tennessee.
In addition to his contributions to Scouting, Eades serves as a Professor of History at Volunteer State Community College and actively engages with youth as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 406 in Hendersonville. The resolution expresses gratitude for Eades' commitment to his community and the ideals of Scouting, recognizing him as a model of leadership and generosity. The General Assembly extends its best wishes for his future endeavors and commends him for his meritorious service to both Scouting and the State of Tennessee.
