Applicants must be provided with a printed document that they must sign, indicating their choice and confirming they received the necessary information regarding the required documents for each type of license, the purposes for which each can be used, alternative forms of identification, and the electronic technology associated with each license type.

Additionally, if an applicant chooses not to apply for a REAL ID compliant license, staff are required to assist in processing the application for a non-REAL ID compliant license. The bill also mandates that the department's website prominently state that obtaining a REAL ID compliant driver license is optional. This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
