Senate Bill 2669, also known as House Bill 2343, amends various sections of the Tennessee Code Annotated regarding leave policies for teachers. The bill stipulates that teachers must be allowed personal and professional leave at a rate of two days for each half-year employed, as per local board of education policies. Additionally, it increases the amount of leave from two days to four days in Section 49-5-205(a).

Furthermore, the bill modifies the sick leave provisions in Section 49-5-710(a)(1) by establishing a new structure for sick leave allowances based on the length of the teacher's contract. Specifically, it allows for one day of sick leave for each month employed, capping at eight days for ten-month contracts, nine days for eleven-month contracts, and ten days for twelve-month contracts, while also permitting the transfer of personal and professional leave to sick leave. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
